カレンにより遺棄。　　廃棄場にて、　第２級市民カーラン-ベッカを殺害、　融合。　　ベッカのＩＤを取得。　　ユーゲント入学。　　ミアン　（０９９６）　と出会う。　　ヒュウガ、　シグルドと出会う。

ジェサイアとともに　≪エレメンツ≫　発足のため人材発掘。

シグルド離反。

Ramsus is created by Krelian to be a copy of Emperor Cain, [0808191 Ramses]. He developed over a ten-year incubation period.

14 years ago:
He is abandoned because of Karen. Near the scrap heap, he murders Second Class citizen Kahran Bekka and fuses with him, then acquires his ID. (1) He enters Jugend and meets Miang #0996, as well as Hyuga and Sigurd.

13 years ago:
He starts the ‘Elements’ group with Jesiah.　　

12 years ago:
Sigurd deserts him.

6 years ago:
Crackdown at Elul. Ramsus is severely injured by Id.　The orphaned Dominia is taken under his wing. After returning to Solaris, she is placed in Jugend.

Game start:
Ramsus goes to Aveh as supreme commander of Gebler.

守護天使の１人であり、　ゲブラーの実質的最高司令官。　謹厳で完全主義者でありながら、　ソラリス特有の人種的優越性に囚われず、　個々の能力を重んじ、　有能な者はたとえ卑賎の身であっても自らの配下に置くことを厭わない。　そのため、　エレメンツを始め直属の部下には厚く信頼させている。　司令官としても非常に有能で、個人レベルの戦闘能力の卓越している。　ただユーゲント時代から人間不信の傾向が強く、　それはジェシーやシグルドの離反によって、　より激しくなっていった。　

ラムサスは、　第五世代Ｍ計画初期に立案されたホモンクルス（人工同調者創造）計画によって生み出された人工生命体。　その実態は、　カレルレンによって天帝カイン排除の目的のために創られた、　天帝のコピー。　識別コードを「０８０８１９１ラメサス」という。　ミアンに覚醒したカレンによって第一次成長期の段階（人型を成す前）で廃棄物処理場へ捨てられるが、　偶然処理場へ迷い込んだ少年、　カーランベッカを殺害、　融合する。　その後ベッカー少年のＩＤを利用し、　ユーゲントに入学した。　ラムサスの外見は天帝カインとベッカー少年の２人の影響を受けている。

Ramsus is Gebler’s supreme commander and a Guardian Angel of Solaris. While stern and very much a perfectionist, he doesn’t hold with Solaris’s ideas of racial supremacy, but rather values an individual’s ability; an able person, even if lowborn, will not be considered beneath him. He started the Elements with this ideal in mind, under his direct command. Even as commander he’s dependable in an emergency, and possessed of excellent combat ability. (2) From his time in Jugend onward, Ramsus has had a strong mistrust of other people, hence his aggression after Jesiah and Sigurd desert him.

Ramsus is the homunculus (an artificial life) planned for the fifth stage of the M Project, brought into being in human form. He is, in fact, a copy of Emperor Cain, made by Krelian to eliminate him. He is known by the code “0808191 Ramses.” Miang’s host, Karen, threw him away during his first stage of growth (before he took human form), but Ramsus found Kahran Bekka, who had gotten lost in the disposal area, and killed him. After fusing with Bekka he used the boy’s ID and entered Jugend. Both Emperor Cain and Bekka have influenced his physical appearance.


2: I had some issues with ‘直属の部下には厚く信頼させている’. I interpreted the last bit as something like ‘solid and dependable’ but the first part – I couldn’t decide if it meant he himself was in command, or that he designated a commander (like Dominia) meant to answer to him. That kind of screwed up the entire sentence.

天帝カインのヒトに対する絶対的行使力は、　法院やカレルレンにも及ぶ。　そのため、　カインを排除しようにも、　通常手段では手を下せない。　カレルレンはカインと同等の力を持つ者　＜相殺存在＞　として、　カインのコピーである「０８０８１９１ラメサス」　を生成する。　しかし、　初期段階で遺棄された時点で、　ラムサス自身は自らを接触者に変わる人工同調者として創造されたものと思い込んでいた。　故に、　自分が遺棄される理由となったフェイに対して激しい嫉妬と憎悪を燃やすが、　それはすべてカレルレンとミアンの巧みな感性操作によるものであった。　

Birth: the one who would kill Cain
Emperor Cain’s power over humanity also extends to Krelian and the Ministry. Because of this, they can’t use ordinary methods to eliminate him. Krelian created a being of equal power, a “counter-existence,” in the copy “0808191 Ramses.” However, when he was abandoned, Ramsus was under the impression he was created as an artificial Contact. Intense hatred and jealousy were kindled against Fei, who became the reason for his suffering, but in reality this was all a clever manipulation on the part of Krelian and Miang.

ミアンとの関係
後にミアンに覚醒する少女とは、　カレン毀損の約１ヵ月前に出会っている。　　覚醒までの僅か１ヵ月あまりの間に、　名も知らぬその少女とラムサスの間で交わされたものは何であったか…。　覚醒後もミアンは彼の恋人として、　現在までその関係は続いている。

コピー故に元々精神状態が不安定なラムサスは、　恋人として心を許していたミアンの誘導によって、　徐々にその精神を崩壊させていく。　度重なるフェイへの敗北がラムサスを極限状態へと追い込み、　力を求めるあまり、　ついに天帝カイン殺害へと至った。　

His connection with Miang
Approximately a month before Karen’s demise, Ramsus met the girl who would be Miang’s new host. During the time leading to that Awakening, he didn’t know her name and they probably didn’t associate with each other. After her awakening Miang became his lover, and this association continues to the present.

Thus Ramsus, whose mental condition was unstable to begin with, slowly degenerated under Miang’s guidance because he allowed her into his heart. Repeated defeats by Fei push him to his limit - he requests more power (3), and this eventually leads to the murder of Emperor Cain.


3: I’m not sure how to interpret ‘あまり’ here. Usually it’s not sentence-final and without a negative verb, but my experience is limited.

エルルの悪魔

ラムサスの、　フェイに対する嫉妬と憎悪を決定ずけたのが、　エルル大粛正時の、　イドによる恐怖体験である。　造反分子を粛正するためにエルルへと向かったラムサスは、　当時若干１２歳であったイド（フェイ）により、　重傷を負わされた。　その恐怖は悪夢となって、　以後のラムサスを苦しめる。

劇中、　ユグドラシル攻撃の際にイドと再遭遇。　プライドを賭けて決戦を挑むが、　完全に敗北する。　以降、　自己の存在の無意味を打ち消すため、　イド（フェイ）を倒すことのみに執着していく。

The Demon of Elul
It is because of his terrifying confrontation with Id at the suppression of Elul that Ramsus continues to hate Fei. (4) Ramsus, who went to Elul to deal with the rebellion, was seriously injured by Id (Fei), who was only twelve at that time. (5) That terror manifests as nightmares and makes him miserable.

Their second encounter takes place during the attack on the Yggdrasil in the game. He challenges Id, pride at stake, and loses completely. From then on Ramsus is obsessed with defeating Id to prove the worth of his existence. (6)


4: This entire sentence is screwed up, in my humble opinion. (I’m forgetting something really easy, I know it.)
5: I don’t understand the purpose of ‘若干’ here, unless it means what I assumed before – ‘young’ or some variation.
6: I guess it’s more like, ‘thereafter, in order to deny his meaningless existence…’ only it sounds better the other way.

エレメンツ (reposted)
エレメンツは元々、ユーゲント時代にジェサイアとラムサスが発足させた精鋭集団。　　当時はジェサイアとラムサスの他に、　ラムサスが取り成したヒュウガとシグルドの４人で構成されていた。　　ラムサスは階級による束縛を排除し、　個人の能力が重視されることを理想としていた。　　その理想を実現させるために組織したのがエレメンツであり、　彼の意志に賛同したのがジェサイア、　ヒュウガ、　シグルドだった。　　しかし、　シグルドの離反とジェサイアの逃亡により、　エレメンツの本来の目的は失われる。

ラムサスの守護天使就任、　ゲブラー総司冷官着任にともない、　エレメンツはラムサス直属の近衛部隊となり、　ユーゲントで卓抜した能力を持つ者を選出し、　エレメンツ候補生として英才教育が施されるようになった。　　現エレメンツ４人はすべてラムサスの手で集められた。　　また、　エリィもユーゲント在籍時はエレメンツ候補生であり、　ドミニアやケルビナとの交友関係があった。

The Elements
In the beginning, the Elements were an elite group put together by Jesiah and Ramsus at Jugend. In addition to these two, Ramsus smoothed the way for Hyuga and Sigurd to join and round out the group with four people. Ramsus wanted to remove restrictions based on class so that each individual would be assessed by their own merits. To realize that dream he organized the Elements, admitting Jesiah, Hyuga, and Sigurd to underline that purpose. (7) However, after Sigurd’s desertion and Jesiah’s flight, the real purpose of the Elements was lost.

When Ramsus became a Guardian Angel, but before he took up command of Gebler, he turned the Elements into a personal guard and chose people who showed remarkable talent at Jugend to enroll as Element cadets and receive a special education. The current Elements were all chosen personally by Ramsus. Additionally, while Elly was at Jugend she was one of the candidates for the Elements – this is her connection with Dominia and Kelvena.


7: the very last part, about underlining his purpose, is implied but not actually said by賛同した I think; this means he endorsed or approved them from what I can tell, but that didn’t work out as well when I wrote it.

Ahhh. I forgot what a pain in the ass the Perfect Works is. Stupid book. Er. I didn't realize I was using 'Elul' instead of 'Elru' until it was too late. Oh well. :D

In any case, this sort of answers our questions about Bekka - since Kahr had not yet taken a humanoid form, I guess he just... latched onto Bekka like a parasite. That's kind of the implication. There must be more to it though, because that doesn't explain why or how. I guess you can reason that he was able to fuse with or absorb the kid because he was still in a malleable stage of development (a writhing mass of cells and such?), but... ^^;

Somebody needs to write up a theory on this and turn it into a story - but it won't be me!
